About your mix, really cool in term of frequency response, it's fat, clarity, well done.
It lacks a little depth and space between the instruments, I think it's due to too much compression and saturation.
For Jazz we avoid compression as much as possible and especially on the master, it must be almost non-existent.
You can try to reduce all your compressions by 50% and work a little more on the automations to recover dynamics.
A mix of Big Band we absolutely don't compress the instruments, it's done but we lose far too much dynamics, that's what happens in your mix.
Conclusion, too much comp, that's the only problem i think but your mix is great and really well balanced (EQ, Balance, Verbs)

I like the mix, but I do agree with you about the compression. I will try to keep your notes in mind the next time I mix a song like this :)
