I went for a more dry, saturated type feel. Saturation may be a bit over the top, but it really helped get the drums to pop and sit well with the bass. Kind of tricky to get the right release/attack times on the mix bus compressor.
Put the guitars through a cab simulator to give it a bit more crunch. So. Much. Guitar. Automation.
Too bad the overheads weren't recorded in stereo L/R. Had to get creative to get some stereo width in the drums.
