Here is Version 1 of this great song !
Thanks to the artist for the multi tracks.

Very polished Don, I must say. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the great use of dynamics. Super guitar tones and loved your forceful use of them throughout, quite captivating. The only thing I could suggest is to perhaps pan the additional backing vocals through the choruses off centre a bit to help with the dramatic effect and intensity. Just an idea.... Anyway, great sounding mix. Loved your bold movesBig Grin

Thanks for having a listen Dave I'm happy you like it .
Spent about a couple of hours on this lovely song and not enough time on the backing vocals which will hopefully will sound great in version 2.

Really nice, DonSmile Super guitar tones, as noted by Dave, but the start of solo a little lost in the background voicesHuh
Hi Sergey,
Thanks for having a listen ,listening back after a little break needs more work on automation ,the solo at 2.24 needs to come up a touch and more work on the background vocals.
The bottom end especially the bass guitar needs to come down a touch and less distortion.

Hi thedon

Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to your post. I really like your mix - it's actually one of my favourites, due mainly to the fact you nailed the atmosphere.

The lead vocals sound great and so do the drums. I may be getting a tad too much sub bass but my monitoring is not the best to definitively tell you.

The technical improvements I could suggest are (a) reducing the transient attack on the ride cymbal. It was poking out a bit for me while listening. (b) I love hearing the male BV parts prominent, but I am hearing low mid masking on it (little known secret is that is MikeS lending his vocal chords). I'd be tempted to pull out a little more 1-2k on bass guitar, but that may be taste.

A couple of other taste comments - being the guitar player, the added distortion (I think) to the solo didn't really work for me. Some high end harshness to it. Maybe a touch quiet too, but I'm biased there Smile

Tom 1 at the outro seemed quite forward - a little bit more reverb treatment on that Tom would help I think

Thanks again thedon for mixing our track - really nice work and I really like it.

Hi Thomas ,
Thanks so much for sharing your recording of your great song ,well played by all .
I'm happy you like the lead vocals which I love ,what an awesome voice !!!!! ,I Didn't know about Mike S lending his vocal chords which also sounds great (I wish I could sing ).
Will work on low mid masking and the transients of the ride and top end of the bass guitar, can also hear some sub bass that needs to be tamed.
I will have another play around with distortion on the guitar as just added a random CLA guitar distortion.
Will sort out Tom 1 and try some reverb.

Thanks Again Big Grin
