Sounds pretty genre-typical to me, maybe a tad heavy on the low end. But I'm not really familiar with this indie rock genre (i.e. I don't listen to such music). If I was to mix it, I'd probably mix it in a softer, more retro way (like I always do).

But I think your mix is pretty much what the artist expects.

This style of music is fairly alien for myself as well, apart from what I hear on the radio, it's not a genre I'm overly familiar with either. I thought I would try something a little more aggressive.

Sounds good to me, plenty of energy to it. Like you said, a bit tricky but you've handled it well, especially considering you mentioned its not really your genre.
