manny's surrendering mix
#1
Hey guys,
For this mix, my goal was to improve my skills with automation, so before I used any sort of compression I went through just about every track (except the snare, kick, and overheads) and turned up little accents that I thought made the track more interesting. Similarly, I also used a ton of automation for the panning of the guitars and some effect levels (listen to the feedback of the vocal delay).
Think it sounds like garbage? Let me know! I really need to learn.
Thanks!

not garbage.. balances are pretty decent.. vocals definitely need compression though it's pretty hard to deal with levels with automation only.. you should do eq treatment next.. to clean up all the mud in it. keep it up!

Hi Manny

First off, I really like your vocal FX.

I think that the drums could benefit from some gating and, as someone else mentioned, a compressor on the vocals wouldn't kill anybody.

Perhpas I think that your overall tone is a bit too much to the dark side, but I guess that would be a matter of taste.

Nice work. Keep it up
I have a Polish friend, who is a sound engineer. Oh, and a Czech one too.
