Still Flying - Olli H
#1
I wanted to study a bit the aesthetics of typewriter kick. My reference was Slayer. I have no idea if I got it right, but at least I got a very restless feeling. It was a big surprise to me how Hi-Fi the Slayer sound actually is.

As I know nothing of this genre, I'm not sure if I dare to comment anybody's mix.

Hello

*Lead guitars are out of sync.
*kick is conflicting big time with the bass
*Snare is louder than Rhythm guitars
*Vocal feels too above the mix

Here is a good example of Post-Hardcore

I always wondered how Linkin Park would sound today if they went the other way with their second album ... the heavier way ... instead of going full pop/shmock. well, there you have it Smile

THanks for listening

I tried to balance this differently based on Shuls comments.

I listened also those examples.

But I have to admit, that I'm pretty lost with this genre.

Hey Smile !

This definitely is better sounding (balance).

In this genre limiting bass and guitars can help achieving a wall of sound.
For leads you just needs high gain and mids pretty much Big Grin (dealay and verb to taste).
Try to start by putting a light V eq curve to your master.

Hope it helps !
Mixing with a dt770 for now..
