Your mix seems to lose energy during the chorus. I think you could try to push the drums and bass a little harder, maybe the guitar part too. Your tones are nice, and balance during the verse is nice, and the build up is getting exciting. . . and then i feel like I'm deflated during the chorus. Just a little more energy for the emotional punch.
Really nice job, just try to get a little more out of the chorus.
Thank you very much for your comment. I didn't notice I was getting "sound blind" while I was mixing for longer then 4 hours without a brake
You are totally right, chorus deflated way too much.
I hope you like the improved version.

Hi Luc,
Andrea from Malenky Slovos here.. I like your revised Mix.. it's a refreshing take on our song ... especially love the fx on verse vocals and the different approach at the chorus!
[EDIT]: on second listen.. the chorus "double" vox in the chorus "call" voices is so epic.. I really love it!! maybe the "response" vox is a bit too low, especially on the first chorus, where there's no "hysteria" vox to counterbalance.. I'd probably raise it a tad .. but this is really a "subjective" comment.
an exciting remix overall

My goal was to make the song a kind of more "spookier" and "grotesk", hence: to bring in a higher "vampire" level, that's what I felt having to do in the mix when hearing this song the first time.
Next to that, you are totally right, my mix is on the good way but its not finished yet.
I will work hard to produce an adaption to this mix and work out the points you have mentioned in your comment.

Hi gents, Hi Andrea,
This is my final mix, its a completely new, redone, mix
Changes are almost too much to mention.
The mix is based on the smaller dynamic ratio of the tracks due to the nature of this song / kind of music. So I have been very strict in handling the max levels and later diverted the dynamics
As promised I added the extra 1 octave down bck vox on "hysteria", additional bck vox have been "choired" (made a choir of each of the solo back vocals)
For fun I added an extra spooky intro to give the song a Gothic start, made it, manually reverse your own voice with Melodyne.
Hello Sir.
Nice start to track, glad you decided on putting the cat in the bag. Strange take on Chorus, sounds thin first time around, but more you listen to it its okay. EQ sounds boosted plenty in high frequencies, maybe too much. Loses Bass Drum a lot. But I like the snare sound in verses and high hat sizzle in Chorus. Needs a bit of weight to it Luc. But that's only my opinion.

Hi James,
You could be.... very right
I'll make a 3rth mix soon.
The point is that I'm a bit of a newbee in digital mixing, my experiences in mixing go back 35 years in time, all tape then (Tascam 16 tracker :-))
In the mean time I am mixing digital for 1 year and 8 months, but only very active the last 3 months.
The point is that I'm learning SOOO very much in short time that I can hear my mistakes in mixes from just a few months ago.
Mixing is really one of the greatest things for me to do, so I'm very enthusiastic about it hahaha
But for sure my mixes never will be perfect, thats why I appreciate comments like yours so much.
Hi Luc... sorry for such a late feedback!
("all work and no play"...
I must confess I was a bit taken aback by the V3, since it's such a different mix than V2 (which I still have on my drive .
So it's hard for me to judge it.. I liked the V2 ("artistically" speaking) as a really alternative and refreshing approach to our original mix.. especially the chaos in the chorus, the drowned double tracked vocals..
As I said at the time I would have just made couple small adjustments: raised a bit the "response" vox, since it was a bit lost (in the call/response vocal pattern on the chorus) and probably added some delay/reverb more to the "hysteria" vox which, on the other hand, stood out as too "well defined", for my taste.
Instead v3 is a whole different beast and, while things are more polished (so possibly better from a mixing perspective), I must confess I like the previous one better
I preferred the way double tracked hi/lo octave vox were used in V2, restrained to just the chorus and meshed in a very "choir"-like way, the big guitar chaos on the chorus, which opened up a lot (while v3 loses energy on the chorus) and the more straight-to-the point old intro )
Again, I'm able to comment only in "subjective/artistic" way, rather than technical.
Technically I'd just say.. the chorus in V3 should rock more )
So, again, I really appreciate that you devoted time and effort to our track.. and consider the above as a really subjective feedback!
cheers
A
