Second Hard Core Mix
#2
Hi Carlos, the balance of your mix is good all the instruments in your mix can be heard clearly, good job. The only real problems with the mix seems to be the guitars and and the drums. The guitars have a very sandy, oversaturated tone to them and they get lost in the mix at times especially when they are playing the chugging patterns in the riffs. I would suggest using the DI files and reamp them with lower gain settings through a guitar amp plugin or send them out from your interface to a guitar amp. The drums seem to be a touch over compressed making them lose some definition and making the cymbals sound splatty. Using less compression on your drums and blending in some parallel compression to taste will really help your drums cut through the mix. The bass guitar in the mix sounds really nice and heavy, I really like how it growls during the parts where the guitars kick in. Overall the mix has a solid low end! If you want a reference mix to help you with this track, i would suggest giving a listen to "Slave" by the band Counterparts, this is the link to the track, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF4ii53NfAQ, really focus on the guitar tone and the drums in the song and build your mix off of that. Overall good job with the mix and cheers! Smile
Mixing is way more art and soul than science. We don’t really know what we’re doing. We do it because we love music! It’s the love of music first. Eddie Kramer
