The composition and arrangement had such a retro style I heard it as something I'd hear on an old record, so I made it sound like something from an old record. ![Smile Smile](https://discussion.cambridge-mt.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
One chamber for the instruments, one plate for the vocal and guitar solo, everything except the congas was LCR, very minimal and broad EQ. The only modern tricks were a touch of de-essing on the vocal and a dynamic high shelf on the guitar solo to subdue the string squeaks.
The vocal dominated the mix and I deliberately allowed that to lower the instruments with a master bus compressor when the vocal hits its top level. This is all about that glorious vocal, and I wanted to keep a subdued and laid-back feel to the instruments.
