Hey My first mix .
Interesting challenge of bass and guitars, think I've got it.
Gone for a more open sound.
any feed back welcome
I could only give it a quick listen.
The two thoughts that jump out at me.
The kick is a bit loud. At least the the kicks minus the 1st kick sample.
The bass guitar/synth really dominates the mix. I think the mix underneath that is probably pretty good or at least a good start.

That said, while it feels like it could be tweaked, tonally it feels fine. There's nothing overly harsh or annoying. Which is easy to do for a song like this. I'm just as guilty as anyone else.

It could use work but isn't bad.

Cheers
I think it's really compressed and this is making the mix sound somewhat tiny. The bass synth track has some clipping top frequencies that should be tamed so it doesn't sound weird with the guitars. The balances on drums is not bad actually. I think is mainly the bass synth that is bothering me with that top artifacts on it. also before that bridge comes in there is a resonating frequencie around 7khz that is very distracting that should be cut out too. I forget if it's in one of the synths or in one of the guitar tracks.

Thanks Roy for having a listen, I had pushed the click kick to try and have it cut through the mix, I will pull it back at few dbs.... I will address the balance of bass and synth elements and set them back in the mix. thanks again for feed back it really helps .     Cheers.

Hi Shul, thanks for feed back, interesting you should mention over compression, when I mix a track I always go for a open sound, because I like thing to sound more real. I do my best not to use compression, I first balance tracks then listen for poking out bits then automate ,or / then/ soften transients a bit.
The most compression I use as a rule is vocals 3-4db and the bass which can be from 3db to 10db  .drums kick possible 1- 2db .  snare about the same. On my limiter I only match -14 LUFS or so not over. because I hate the sound of compressed tracks.

All this said , you have mentioned , high lighted the same problem areas as Roy ,

I had put a bass sim on the bass track to give it some bite, this is I think where I have fallen down.

top marks,  you have good ears , my Guitars were pushed at 7k to cut through the bass top, I will look at some cutting  not bosting and do away with sim . Address balance of bass and guitars . I think the synth have just add to the top  and saturated the overall sound  making things thin and harsh.

Thanks again , Now I Have had feed back I can look to push this mix forward.

Cheers.

Keep on keeping on.
