This was a joy to mix! Such great performances all round.
I thought the reference mix did a pretty good job of the modern Broadway sound, so I decided to make it a bit more of a vintage musical flavour. Somewhere between Rocky Horror and Bugsy Malone kind of vibe.
All the great music is sacrificed on the altar of the vocals for this one, except in the crescendo where I wanted raucousness over intelligibility and the vocals to fight for attention with the brass. Other than that, I treated the music as something to accent the vocals rather than stick out as its own thing.
