Hi Everyone,

My first submission to the group.

Let me know if it cuts the mustard.

I'm giving it a go myself as I train my daughter in the little that I know.

All the best with your mixes. Hope to review some soon.

A big shout out to Mike Senior for all the hard work to make this site work.

Update: Attached is the next day's final mix. For the convenience of first time visitors.
Hi FamousBass

I really enjoyed your mix, very easy to listen to. You nailed the Bass, nice!!

Maybe a little more panning of the guitar, spread the stereo field a bit. and a bit more EQing on the snare, a hair more top , but thats all personal preference.

Solid smooth mix

Nicely done

Cheers

Thank you very much K,

Yeah, just making a guide mix for my daughter's project.

The bass required trashing that speaker mic, it's a forlorn mess. Just used the DI.

EQ, an amp sim, EQ, followed by two compressors, one to rein it in, the other to put it in the pocket.

I was looking at EQing the snare for a bit for kettle snap but it started to crowd the vocals for my tastes.

You have a point about the gtr. Might try it but I might not! I went 60s on it. Mono-ish.

Overall, my vibe is when you have a pretty good band but everyone is playing a little sloppy, you can't keep tweaking. Make it sit and walk away.

Hi K,

attached: Slow Down - Jessica Childress final mix.mp3

I took your tips on board. Met you half way.

Spent a little time on the BVs while I had it open.

Cut three bass notes inside the track. Sliced off dead air front and back.

Stayed within a small spread on gtr. Why? The drummer and lead vocal are the royalty on the track with the bass a close third. And the keys and gtr are a bit undecided what they're committing to.

Final mix.

Thanks

Regards
