Hi guys,
So it's my second time posting here and it's probably been nearly a year since my first.
I just use Reaper and free plugins. I'm a musician first and learning to mix and master as a hobby so I've not sank any money into this.
The mix sounds a bit duller and compressed in Mp3 compared to my daw. I've used VLC to listen back as I've been told that that doesn't compress it, but it seems a bit off.
Anyway I've tried to make the choruses a touch wider, but not hard panned anything, and added depth to the vocals to fill the gap in the middle. Felt like this was a tune where the bass sat below the drums so I've tried to let the kick and snare punch through a little bit more. Fed all the harmonies into a bus and lumped some chorus on that to thicken up those woah bits too.
Let me know whatever I can do to make it better or any fundamentals I've missed.
