I really ha d a blast mixing this track - rockin' all the way!
Loved the vocal performance and the way it was captured especially!
So here's my take at a 'Maroon-5-esque' vibe - as usual, comments and critique appreciated and expected

Ooh yeah!
This is a good mix, mate.
The piano, EP and guitars have a really lovely tone to them in this song. Looking forward to giving it a go myself later on (and hoping I won't totally destroy the song with my choices)
The only thing that I would look at fixing in this version is the snare which is going 'pop' rather than 'bash'.
(But that could have just been the sound you were going for, in which case ignore everything below this line)
As it is, the snare and kick sound a bit too separated by the EQ choice - the kick is very bottom end thumpy and the snare has almost no body at all.
If you want to get a bit more body into the snare, try playing with EQ to give it a bit more in the 200Hz region or adjust the compressor attack & release times to thicken up the body a bit more.
Other than that, Mutt Lang is on the line and wants to know where you found his Maroon 5 mix production notes

Thanks for your reply and comments! It's definitely a great track that makes mixing it real fun
As for the snare sound, I get what you mean, however I was more after a 'SMACK!' than a 'BASH!'
Also, the present top snare sound has quite some 500Hz beef on (to bring out the woody ring). I would feel that boosting the 200Hz-300Hz region on the snare would eat up some growling bass definition, dont you think? Maybe it is the balance between the top and bottom snare mics that needs re-thinking
I will definitely try another pass with the bottom snare a little lower in the mix and see where that takes the whole song.

Just dont over do the meat like i did on my mix lol
Hi square cell ,I also agree about the snare .The bass appears to be using too much energy in the mix.
Maybe the bass can do withe a little boost around 100-160hz and cut off around 20-40hz to give the kick a little more space.
Hey, nice work on your mix! It's a pretty good balance. I have to agree with the other guys, in terms of overall frequency balance. The kick is sounding nice & full, but the rest of the mix sounds a little on the thin side. To my ears, there's a little too much overall at around 470Hz, and I'm after a bit more at around 240Hz.
