Hello everyone, I'm somewhat new to the mastering world of audio haha. Anyways, I did a quick mastering of the track Burning Bridges and would love some feedback and tips on how to improve what I've already done.
I would go back to start and do it again. There are so many things that need to be fixed that it's impossible for me to write it all down Smile

Next time try this:

1. Use a reference mix. I would use the mixed version of Burning Bridges as a guideline
2. Read about basic mixing techniques. Like this: http://www.cambridge-mt.com/mixingsecrets.htm And for rock & metal check this: http://www.systematicproductions.com/mixing-guide.htm
3. Focus on 1-2 things at a time and try to get them right. Like Panning, or Automation, or Compression. You will get better after a while.
4. Check the FAQ for this song.
5. I don't know what you use for monitoring but get a good pair of headphones AND and a decent pair of monitors. You need both.

Thanks a lot! I'll check out those links you sent. I'm using an Onkyo surround sound system in my room although, I will admit, that using a good pair of headphones would have helped. I'll re-do this mix and post it here again. Thanks again Smile
I think the lack of a proper monitoring system is your biggest problem. If you fix that your mixes will be a lot better in the future. But keep in mind that you have to listen to a lot of music on your new headphones/monitors so you ears can get used to them.
