Biggest decision for me was the use of samples. I'm not really a fan of samples, but the original snare had a real weak quality to it that I didn't feel fit the song. I'm a big believer in making big strokes early on in a mix so that was the first thing to go! Then it was just about working the vocal to sit powerfully alongside that lower, more "disco-rock" snare I picked out.

Would love to know what you guys think of it!

Don't be afraid to be as constructive as you like!
Voice sounds like it's compressing too much in some parts in the chorus.. how much compression did you use? (unless that's how the dynamics are in the recording)
It's well Balanced. I can hear Everything. It's a good mix. Smile
Can't really complain about anything in this mix. I applaud your replacement of the snare. This is a good choice. My biggest issue with this song is the differentiation of the keyboard parts from a single track. I think you've done a good job with those, here.

Yeah, I totally hear that now! Funny having had a break for a few days. I just threw it into an 1176 and let it sit up front with some widening chorus. It sits well in the verses but the chorus pulls back... I would assume, if I were to look at the session, that the level of the dry track increases in the chorus section. I like to hit my LV compression pretty hard and this mix is pretty pegged in that regard.

hmm... definite oversight! Thanks for pointing that out.

Thank you for your feedback! Smile

Yeah that keyboard is a bit of a pig. It has some great sounds in there but it would be great to separate out the Rhodes from the Piano and the Synth. The original mix has this great top end in the breakdown from the keys that I wish I had thought about pushing forward myself
