Hey guys,
Really haven't ventured into this style as far as mixing, but I am a long time listener! I thought this track came out very nice. I feel its strong suits are the clarity of the kick and snare throughout the Blast Beats that can become muddy.
For the Guitars, I used the DI primarily and used some Amp Sims, and Cab Sims and blended a few of the original mic's back into some of the parts. There almost is too much going on, but not quite. The dropping out of certain guitars in certain parts gives this song some much needed breaks, however, your average Metal listener doesn't need constant variation to keep interested, they are listening to the heaviness...
I really tried to make sure the choir and synth pads found their way to be noticed in the mix. Using some tricky Mid-Side processing to get them wide in the mix but not the forefront.
