Hi guys. This is pretty much the first mix I did. The guitars were tamed quite a bit, imo they sound much cleaner now, one could say flat, but I like it. Wanted to get rid of all the hiss and stuff so it doesn't sound as busy.

I'm still not happy with the snare, for me it was kinda hard to work with.

Would be nice to get some feedback, thanks for listening.
I think you'll find that (relatively) tightly notching 4kHz on the guitars will help tame the buzz you get from excess drive/ poor mic placement. Sometimes you also need to go to 8kHz to get rid of some of the airy sound. Usually it only takes 3-6dB of reduction.
I feel the snare is too compressed.
I like the voice fx. It goes with the music.
Thanks for the replies. Yes notching hissy guitars in that area seems to do wonders, with some amp sims I found 6 k to be the most annoying frequency.

Regarding the snare, I don't know but the mic placement must have been way off. Took a screenshot of the Voxengo Span:

It just sounds like "klonk" (st. anger Wink. Cutting 200, 300, 400...didn't really help. Guess I compressed so hard to make it noticeable.

Yay, SPAN!

Love that tool. Smile
