Heya all,

Here's my mix. Bit of a challenge for the bleed, the plops, cracks, funny overhead recordings.
I also have tuned all the backvocals (Nectar2)

Tried to make the best out of it and let it sound (an attempt to anyway woohaha) like end of 70's disco music.

Gave some special attention to the mutual dynamics between bass, guitar and grand piano, Lead and bck vox while many times in discomixes the proper balance between
dynamics dissapears very quickly.

Cheers,
Luc
Hi
thanks for replying to mine mix so I should give you my thoughts about your version Smile

This is what I'm thinking, it is really not worth anything because it is all about taste and preferences, and ifit sounds good to you then it IS good.

I think that there should not be any chorus or flanging on the guitars and piano, rather som verb or slapback delay just noticeble or preferable nothing at all but just some eq and mild compression and focusing on pan/levels instead, they tend to take over everything when everything kicks in and make it hard to hear the drums/bas with full clarity because of the smearing that arise when the choir kicking in, don't be afraid of using lowcut it really makes thing to stick out and then using pan to place them right where they are coming through without raising the level fader, this is the most useful trick I've learned through the years, it is even better to listening in mono and just use pan to see where it comes through, yes panning in mono will give you insight how well your mix will represent all the voxs/instruments when listening in stereo.

it is in my opinion to loud, my analog console peaks at an constant of +9 from my 0 on the meter so if I listening on my version and have lets say my earphones volume at 1 o'clock I will have to lower it to around 9 o'clock to have the same volume and if I would not lowering my volume your version will distort in my phones, usually I do not listening to music in phones but this is a good way to measure your own experience of loudness/peak levels and how your ears react to the difference in the volume that this will do when listening in phones.

Otherwise you have made a good mix where mostly everything came through and made it very listenable, I cannot say that you should do anything that I've mentioned, but I would recommend that you check it out from a learning perspective and maybe see where it takes you so to speak.

Have a wonderful day.

Hi luc
I like the overall balance , love the punch and of your mix ,Just as a personal preference would love to hear more dynamics not sure maybe less compression on the bass and the he snare would sound awesome ?
Good job Big Grin.
HI luc I like your style on this one. Just a few to point out. Guitar is a little loud for the overall sound . But everything sounds good to me. In my own opinion. Got mine
uploaded. Please comment on it. At last I got it to the right forum.
