But what happened to the snare?

Cheers guys...Wasn't a big fan of the recorded snare sound & the sample that came with it, so that got replaced with tighter/snappier a DW Snare.

I don't really like the snare. I see what you tried to do there, but this DW snare doesn't have punch at all, it just slaps.
Try drum layering maybe. Low end of a bottom-heavy snare and this snap together, this could be nice!

Took on board what you said and had another go at mixing it from scratch...would love to hear what you think.

The bass guitar and the kick were better in your first mix, but the snare on this one is better, still needs some work. It slaps a lot and the punch could get a bit up without having too much "thump". At this point the snare is just a matter of dynamic processing, not so much of EQing. You're getting close
