Well that might be the problem. Mixing on laptop speakers isn't actually a very good idea. There is virtually no low-end on those. And the mids are normally pretty cluttered.
Under my upload, you've been asking what set of speakers I use. I'm mixing on 5" Adams with a sub. But really, any kind of decent studio monitor will do. And you don't have to spend a fortune. There are some pretty cool ones made by PreSonus or JBL.
Also, a good set of headphones (AKG K712 or Beyer DT990 i.e.) would be a step up from the laptop speakers as well. Mixing on headphones can be a bit difficult, but you can get used to it. Andrew Sheps mixes on a set of Sony 7506's a lot.
Anyway, none of those are really going to address the low-end in all depth. I was avoiding to mix with a sub for years, but when I finally made the switch, it meant everything.
