Another good thing to consider: "how can you express your love through song if your lover is having trouble understanding the lyrics?" What quality of this instrument is making it hard to hear what I want to be hearing? Is it too quiet? Is the frequency balance just right? Is the dynamic range to wide? Or... most often... are less important instruments hogging all the room I need to convey these qualities?
