Attempts were made.
First mix: I went for an 80s sound at first. I don't love it and will probably come back to it again from scratch someday.
Second mix: From scratch taking in account some of the critiques of the first mix.
I think it's the snare that is eating up all the low mids of the vocal. My hunch is a little EQ carving and bringing the fader down a touch might let the vocal sit nicely. The synth is getting a bit lost, too.
Feels a bit washy with reverb on the guitars, but I appreciate you were going for an 80s vibe. I also went with an 80s vibe, but more post punk/new wave Tubeway Army kinda direction.
For me, the snare is a bit woolly ( I've also struggled with this ), and I think the vocals can come a bit up-front
Cheers
Thanks. You're probably right. I tend to do too much to the snare and mix it too loud.
I kept the vocals back on purpose to give the band a bit more energy and felt they were intelligible but then again, I don't speak Spanish. That said, you and Judders mentioned the vocal and I suppose I should bring them forward. I'll probably do a new mix from scratch but I will keep those two points in mind.

I addressed the snare and vocal in the post above. If I do this one again I'll keep those points in mind. I did err on the side of a quieter synth. But I probably should have tried harder to get it more out front.
And ha, early on I was going for a Joy Division sound. I did eventually abandon the idea but probably some of those choices went along for the ride.

I think the vocal could work the way it is, but the snare is masking it.
The new mix sounds great! The drums are a particular improvement, very punchy but not overpowering. You've done some magic with the guitars, too - kept the original tone but managed to make them heard without ever becoming shrill.
Only doubt I had was whether the bass widening modulation effect was a little overcooked. Is it a Dimension D type effect? This is a tiny thing in a great mix though.
I think balances are very solid here. I would do a bit less vocals but that's just my taste. I'm gonna takle this one in a bit. There are several good mixes of this already. This is one of them.
