Hi everyone!
This is my mix of the song Summerghost.
Let me make some comments on it.
-On the mixing side of things, I struggled a lot with the vocals. Had to use a lot of compression and mostly limiting to make the sit right. Also there was a lot of silibance that made the vocals spike sometimes close to 10dB.
-I used the drums track for the drums and I didn't bother with the midi track to create samples or anything, as the midi track and the drum track for some reason had differences. I did parallel compression that I engaged it only in a small part in the middle of the song, and in the last big chorus with the backing vocals just so to make the drums more punchy and roomy. In the rest of the song, the parallel compression drum track was muted. I used a Fairchild compressor emulation on it by Tracks5 and it sounded amazing.
-I think the electric guitars tones didn't fit the song. They were very dry and they sounded like the amplifier was broken. This is my personal opinion though so don't think much of it it if you don't have to.
