Umphrey's McGee - Crucial Taunt !
#1
I love this song! reminds me of bands like Spock's Beard, Transatlantic, Neal Morse band.

It was really a joy to mix and those drums! omg so good.

So here is my mix, please let me know what you think!
Big Grin

---------------------------------------------------------------------
V2 mix
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I gave the drums a little more ambience, also a little more sub in the kick and raised the volume a tiny bit.
The guitars are a tiny bit louder and the organ a little less loud.
I put a compressor on the master bus to glue it a little bit together.
Raised the volume of the shaker a tiny bit.

Hi Brady,
Nice mix, a really good job on the drum sound.!
My consideration about it after linstening:
-The shaker track it's too forward and really brigh.
- A bit more sub to the kick sound
- I prefer the guitar track more forward.( in some part the organ sound cover the guitar)
- The mix need more glue check mix bus chain
- Check the efx chain the mix it's dry
Cheers!
Cox.

I like mix. But there are some wishes. I'm not sure that the organ sounds too loud, but the guitar should sound closer. She looks somewhat lonely. Kick should raise the 2DB level. And most importantly, this song needs eggs. I don’t know how to say ... She should cling and not let go from the very beginning. Otherwise, by the middle of the song, I begin to miss. This is similar to moving at speeds along a marshy area of the road, performing active actions by the steering wheel so as not to get stuck. This mix, on the contrary, is very neat, intelligent, even, without surprises. A comfortable, calm highway on a cruise control ... ))) Of course, these are my subjective sensations. It is possible that I am mistaken.

Hi, Thank you for the feedback. i agree with the sub to the kick, also guitars are a little low in the mix indeed. I'm gonna make a V2 version.
