Homebound - lunchdogmix
#1
Getting some rust off and re-familiarizing myself with Reaper as I have a project coming up soon. This was quick and enjoyable.

Started off with top-down mixing, then realized I could use Deezer Spleeter to split up the 2 tracks of audio into 4, to give me more control over the vocal performance. I then went from there, mainly using stock Reaper plugins, but I did deviate and used Voxengo OldSchoolReverb as the main reverb that's bussed from the instruments and vocals.

I mixed this first without referencing things in between (rookie mistake), and after I was done I listened to the final master mix available on this site. My mix lacks the excitement from saturation, and I did not emphasize the stomps throughout the entire performance, just the guitar/banjo riffage. The banjo lacks the plucky punch that a slammed compressor might bring, which could also help the guitar.

Not bad for about an hour of futzing with Python and a half hour of mixing. I still have a lot of rust to shake off.
