I had fun mixing this track and thought it was probably time to shamelessly seek input from the community. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
I had fun mixing this track and thought it was probably time to shamelessly seek input from the community. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
- I wanted to see whether I could give this track more of a punk feel so I started by replacing the drums.
- For the intro, I chose to bring in Guitar 1 panned left for the first two bars while the double was muted. I then brought it Guitar 2 panned right to fill in the stereo field.
- I doubled the DI bass, re-amped with lots of fuzz (maybe a little Motörhead inspired).
- I kept the Hammond organ in the mix, but I pushed it right back so it just adds a bit more texture without being overly noticeable.
- For the vocals, anytime "bed" and "dead" came up, to my ear, there was a funny "t" sound on the end that I ultimately solved by scrubbing through the vocal take and manually cutting those bits out.
- Lastly, I added vocal harmonies throughout to give it some more ear candy.
