Dead Enemies: the corona edition...
#1
Stuck at home, I can give you my “Corona Edition” of Dark Ride’s “Dead Enemies”.
Although I like the mixes that have already been made, I gave it a go to add
my own personal preference to this massive track.
I wanted to go more “Ronnie James Dio” on the vocals, more "Motör" on the bass,
and to highlight the pristine strumming of the guitars.

The presence of a synth and piano suggested there had to be more to it
than just the metal bang. So I've tried to leave some room for these elements,
and also to add more colour and depth to the song. I've given each segment
of the song it's own balance and character, to enhance the emotional impact
the track has and give it it's own flavour.
I hope you can enjoy listening to it, as much as I've enjoyed creating it.

Greetings from The Netherlands and stay safe!

Nick F.

Right now you have the usual stuff in your mix that went wrong, hence why I wrote the faq to give you a little help Smile

But I see where this is going and I like it. But please, please change the snare sound. It just doesn't fit the genre and it needs more weight and bottom end. Also some of the mixing decision you have made my sound cool if you listen to the song 1-2 times, but after that the song starts to get boring. E.g. I really love the heavy main riff, but after the 1st verse the listener might have enough of it. That's why I´ve added so many melodies and textures so you can make it interesting again, but you have to put them in the spotlight to make them work.

Would you have a link as to where I can find them (the faq)?
I'm new to this forum, so a little guidance would be welcome.
I'm very keen to fix "usual stuff in your mix that went wrong", HELP!

Regards,

Nick

Please don't start to change everything based on my faq. You already have a nice mix with a lot of energy going, it just needs some rather small fixes. If you are going to do major changes, you might lose that energy. I would advise you to use the snare sample most of the time and turn the original snare sound down (except for the blast beat, but you have to redo the snare in that part anyway).
