A little dark and dull mix like you said.
The bass have too big role and other instruments are just "hits" compared to the bass.
At least snare, guitar and voc could be a little brighter. And not just high end. Lead voc could use some boost in presence 3-5kHz as there is parts where s-limiter could take care of the highest part.
This is purely opinion but I think this song and mix of it need more space that you have given to it. It doesn't need to be on your face or at least everything doesn't need to bee on your face. Be creative and try something.
