There's something there that I don't like... unfortunately I can't tell you what it is because I'm not very good at spotting mistakes. But it's the same thing that I hear sometimes when I'm mixing that I find everything 'noisy' and I have to work more on track levels and EQ. But you can make it sound great if you keep on working on it! ;-)
mixing since April 2013

I like what youve done to the arrangement. And the fact that you did so :-)
Im no fan of the drum sound, especially the kick.
I wont say you can make what I programmed sound like it, but take a listen to this:
http://bobbyowsinski.blogspot.dk/2013/10...drums.html
and be inspired. Thats a great kick :-)
Its an oldschool song and the obvious is going for an oldschool sound, and using the supplied samples (or some you put in yourself ) as reinforcement for the beautiful sound from that samplepack called "big mono" (think I named those tracks BM)
Did I mention I like you comped the guitar - congrats.
But little more time on the workbench isnt a bad idea as your text implies .D
Old ears, old gear, little boy inside love music and sounds and my wife, not necessarily in that order

Thank you Niels,

Done a remix with a little more automation using your samples ,only used snare 1 and 2 and a played with the sample kick having a hard time to get it to sound right, had a listen to the deep purple drums and will be using that clip as a guide for drum sounds Thanks !

P.s
I had a listen to your impressive list songs on soundcloud Very nice .

I listened the version 2, but I can't found it anymore. Or am I dreaming?

But here's what I heard and thought in my dream:

I like the openess and live feeling of your mix.
Did you drop all the keyboards? It doesn't matter at all. It's just a different song, or new interesting interpretation of the same song.

But as the concept is now a "energetic small band", I wonder if those big background vocals are little bit out of place. Maybe if they were more mono, it could suit the live band feeling better.

Vocals (or vocal reverb) could could be little warmer. Maybe you could EQ vocal reverb somewhere to smoothen the space. Now it feels to be a hard space. The same trick could made the band also warmer.

The way you comped guitars makes it feel that in your version there's a singer and a guitar hero on the stage. And it seems to work just fine with the sound you created.

Thanks Olli yes i listened after resting my ears and realized that something gone wrong at mix down with automation , uploaded the same unchanged mix again (sorry) as is will do a total remix following your advice and especially after hearing your great mix !
Thanks !

Sounds great to me. It has authentic live feeling, I like it. If I remember correctly from your other mixes (Lokke?), you seem to have a special ear for raw sounds.

Maybe the guitar could come up little bit in solo (2:03). Now there's some kind of drop in level when vocals disappear and solo begins.

Your mix must be closest to what Voelund had in his mind, when he made this song.
