Japan Song
#1
I automated where it was needed, such as the quiet cello solo.

I reamped the DI GTRs with a 5 watt class A amp and used a tube screamer, Dynacomp and holy grail effects, using a SM57 and SM7b mic

I reamped the bass using a Markbass amp and SM7b mic

I used my Lexicon MX400 for most of the reverb effects

Console 1 SSL 4000K across entire trks

MixBuss: Satin/Console1/PresswerksGlue/PresswerksLimiter/IzotopeDither

Feedback is always welcome.

Cheers.

Balance is good and vibe fits the song.

Guitars sounds nice but the bass is muddy and "tubby".
Please comment on others mixes, this site is all about feedback.

I do understand what you're saying about the bass and I know its round and big, but it was a deliberate production call.

I think the bass tone is appropriate for this song after all its not metal or funk ect.., and doesn't need to be edgy or super defined.

Plus it works well in the chorus and towards the end when the fuzz distortion is implemented.

I referenced this mix with HS-5's and HS8S in the studio and then with Audio Technica M50, then in both my cars and then on a computer. All tests sound consistent and great.

You should give this song a try. Smile
