David Tyo: 'Oh, Life' (Critiques plz)
#1
Hey guys,

I have decided to mix something after a bit of a break. Let me know how I did Smile

V2:
I did quite a lot automation to accomodate the contrast between the quite and loud parts. I wanted the piano very full and dark in the quite parts, but less-heavy and brighter in the loud part to not clutter the mix. Also the vocal level is adjusted throughout the song to keep them at the front of the mix.

The guitars were cleaned up as-well, and the solo emphasised more. A bit more snap to the drums also. For the last section I also doubled the vocal with the same copy pitched down 1 and 2 octaves to achieve a very big epic sound. It is pretty quite, so you notice its absence rather than its presence.

Thats about it, let me now what you think about those changes Smile
Cheers,
Lukas

I like that you made the guitar shine in the mix.
Good bass balance in the mix. I just would have liked couple more db's on the solo.. but great mix!!
