Steampunk Siege - AZmix
#1
So I can see by the lack of current threads this one isn't exactly a popular mix... Too bad. It's a great little fanfare and I *love* them drums! (I'm sure my neighbors did too! Tongue )

So in one sense, since this is entirely synthesized and has some complex sounds, its a study in multiband processing. For me, though, mostly I accomplished what I needed to do by multing the "synth1" part into three tracks so they could each be EQd slightly differently and held to different volumes and then volume automating one or two of the others. Otherwise, it was just a matter of getting the right parts to poke out at the right time and not lose energy in the track.

The one thing I'll say about my mix is that I'm not really happy with the reverb and delays. It sounds like this tune can benefit from more carful processing but the ideas of what would work in this tune just aren't comin'.. So I settled for just trying to get everything to blend.

Comments welcome.
