Queen's Light -- kai's mix
#1
Hi everyone,

What a fun track this is! I've really enjoyed mixing it.

Looking forward to reading your comments!

I used a linear-phase EQ on almost every track for high-pass filtering (low cut).
Both tom tracks were cut manually to where the drum hits are.

Master buss: SSL-style buss compressor, a bit of limiting.

1 aux channel for reverb: "reflective room"
2 aux channels for delays: 1/16, 1/8 triplet

Kick: SSL E channel strip (EQ, compression for inside mic), inside mic phase-flipped
Snare: SSL E channel strip (comp), Pultec-style EQ
Hi-hat: SSL E channel strip (EQ)
Toms: SSL E channel strip (EQ, comp)
Overheads: SSL E channel strip (comp), Pultec-style EQ

Tape emulation on drum buss.

Shaker: Pultec EQ

Bass: tube saturation for mid range, 1176-style compressor

Elec gtr: Pultec EQ, LA-2A-style compressor

Synth 2: 1176-style comp
Synth 3: 1176-style comp
Synth 4: flanger

Hammond organ: Pultec EQ
Elec piano 1: stereo tremolo, amp simulator
Elec piano 2: LA-2A-style comp, stereo tremolo, amp simulator, another LA-2A comp, EQ
