Ripe: '4 Out Of 10' - GroovyYuv Mix
#1
This was a bit of a challenge. Keeping the live sound while cleaning it up.
Replaced the snare with a trigger, used the room but not the chamber. Did some serious squishing on the horns and lots of alignment checking.

Plus the drums OH were oriented for viewer rather than drummer. Somehow I always mix in reverse.

Would love your feedback.

Well, it's very present and distinct, with good clarity. Bass is coming through great through the computer speakers I'm listening on at the moment, which is always important for anything funky. Nice upfront an controlled vocal too.

I wonder, though, whether you've sacrificed a bit of blend, and whether the drums in particular are maybe a bit upfront compared with the rhythm instruments. My other first-impression is that the snare feels a bit lightweight -- some lower midrange thud to the snare in the 100-400Hz region would help it punch more, I think.

Pretty solid effort, though, I have to say, and an enjoyable listen!
