For the bass, I tried many things, what works best for me was an SVT bass amp sim with a large cut à 500 Hz, and a boost at 2 kHz. In front of that I use the grit pedal in Logic's pedalboard to give a nice distortion.

Cheers Mandubien,

The 500hz cut makes a lot of sense to me. It was an area in the mix that I tried to keep light, especially with the guitars. I'm keen to get back into the studio and have a play around with it now.

Some alterations based on the helpful feedback.

Have made some changes to the snare, aligned the top and bottom tracks, some fader and eq adjustments, I have also added a sample for reinforcement.

The bass, I have also made this more present in the mix with distortion and highlighted some parts that went missing in the first mix. Apologies to the bass player!

Finally some delay added to the lead vocal and some balancing tweaks and automation adjustments throughout.

G'day Dave love your solid mix.
Can hear some frequencies jumping out on the bass around 334-337hz area thought it was my room but can hear on hd600s also.
As a personal preference missing a some smack on the snare around the 2 k area not by much about 1 -1.5 db max.

Well Done

Thanks Don.

I'm not hearing these rogue frequencies with the bass, which concerns me a little. Some decent monitoring would be good.Undecided Maybe it's just my ears.

I have also added some "2k" to the snare drum and added some extra room mic as well. It's subtle, but I think it's an improvement. I'll learn how to mix drums one of these daysBig Grin

Cheers
