first country mix
#1
hello !

Im not into country at all but i had maximum fun playing with this song.

As we don't listen to country in france , i don't know if there are special rules to know about the balance of the intruments. Is the drum is usually quiet ? or maybe the piano have to be central? i absolutely don't know.

So i mixed these tracks with my feelings and i had a good time.

i'm a beginner in mixing so feedback is very much appreciated. thank you .Sleepy

Sonically you mix is good. But maybe the balance is not so country style.

In country music you can put vocals much louder. Although this particular song is not so content driven, typically country listeners expects to hear vocals better. Try to listen on lower levels, you'll notice that the focus is not clearly in singer.

And when you find a good level for singer, remember to put the solo instrument to the same level in solo.

As this song is clearly old style country and as you have made quite big space for your mix, you might try to use as one reference Patsy Cline.
For example if you want to keep this song as pure country with big space:

On the other hand, if you want to emphasise the blues aspect of this song, put drums up and listen this one:

Notice the level and role of drums between these two reference song.

well thanks for that olli. i haven't listen to my mix since few months. i clearly hear the vocal loudness problem now. i am listening to patsy cline. i dig this. i love the way how it sound sweet and mellow. i understand the drum role between the two songs.

i really feel my mix here is aggresive finally. i'll try it again soon. thank you.
