Hi Dave and Dave ,I Think this is a great discussion Listening to more references on BBC is a Good advice to get the feel of this genre ,I have volunteered to record to do some challenging recordings for school Choirs in small halls and rooms using budget microphones also recorded drums room and overheads in very small acoustically challenging rooms ,sometimes Ï have to deal with whatever situation Even though it might sound ok on headphones especially strapped for time !
With Drums I have to had to use effects to simulate a different room space but need to spend more time working on that.
BIg Dave I will explore your Idea of using Closed Mics as you explained .
