Dead Roses - Redux
#1
I had struggled with the mix of the guitars and the snare and getting them to mesh as the driving force of the ensemble. At issue is some sloppiness of the players, but also a balance issue. In this mix I think I have addressed this better. There are plenty of dynamics in the song and I tried to capture as much of them as possible. The over-all power level of the mix allows for plenty of transients which make this song enjoyable at all listening levels.

I would enjoy your feed back.

Hi man,
I like you mix very much.
Just some thoughts:
- Nice decision on panning and balancing the harmony instruments.
- Nice EQ on Acoustic guitars.
- A little bit more energy on drums could improve it.
- the lead vocal sound like it was in a different space, specially in the first part of the song.
- I fell you exagerate the high pass filter on vocals...maybe not.

As you see, overall all these are matter of taste.
Good job.

Hi, I love your mix, the acoustic guitar really sound nice, just expect more on the drums, sound a bit dry for me.

I'd say you've hit it right on the head. After not having listened for a while, now that I come back to it I'd agree with your assessment 100%. The vocals are too out front and could be softened to lay more internally in the mix. Thanks so much for your good ear and good comments.
