Seeking harsh Critiques on my mix;

Hey guys and gals, I decided to try my hand at mixing a song with live elements for the first time, please provide any feedback you can, I really want to improve so all comments are welcome.

Not sure what the cause is, but the bass guitar seems mono-tonal and is casting a veil over the mix, which otherwise is tremendous. I might then soften the kick a bit as well. I hear this song as more of a lyrical composition not so much a heavy rhythm comp.

I agree with mixITC ( which I often do). Switch the kick and bass in their places. Give the kick the bottom and focus the bass higher is what I would suggest. Try a different kick sample; one with a soft beater.
