Difficult, but manageble mix

Hi,

long time no see.

The song sounds great, but there were some issues.

1) Drums: I replaced all of them. The original ones sounded very weak.

2) Vocals: First, with this vocal you learn how to automate. I used vocal rider from waves, but still I had to automate a lot. Second, frequencywise it was hard to mix. The 700 Hz region jumps extremely out of his voice. I reduced this section with a dynamic EQ like TDR Nova. That means everytime he sings a note that lies in the 700 Hz area, it gets automatically turn down.

3) Guitars and bass sounded allready good.

Some mixers mentioned Green Day as reference. Yes, I use it, too.

The mix isn't mastered yet. I just pushed the loudness a little with a limiter.

Great version of this song! Drums work very well.

Quite wet but I guess that it’s with purpose.

FUnny thing, in this mix I happened to test the TDR Nova with exactly the same setting as you.

Only very small tweaking thing that came to my mind, is that bg vox automation is not yet ok. For example around 1:18 one can hear mainly the esses of it.
