Great job, Don. My only suggestion would be to bring down the bass a tad and maybe add a touch of ambience to the trumpets.
To mix or not to mix ... mix!

I made made the same mistake on my rubbish mix of this, pull the vocal down a fair bit to sit in the mix better,i think you will get better result riding the automation. Its very in the face at the moment Don

Thank you .

Yes will do another remix as posted without resting my ears, will adjust the bass and add a touch of ambience to the trumpets, also work on the vocal volume. Also the snare is getting lost in some parts.
Spent many hours trying to reference individual brass and other instruments with high quality samples and tried to get the sound as close to my favourite jazz cd as possible and finally gave up.

LOL! I know what you mean - you have a really good idea as to what you want them to sound like, but the tracks just don't want to follow your direction.

So many songs, so little time!

Hi there Don good job on this mix, very nice sounding wind section. I also agree with the other comments, for my taste the bass has to come down a bit, also the vocals
are too up front, and the track would benefit from a little more reverb or room sound i think. Anyways good job , keep it up.

Not a bad mix at all! Besides the vocal and bass levels already mentioned (those are very small though and easily adjusted), I think a little more spread on your wind instruments would help a lot. Some of it seems a little too central and doesn't fall in around the vocal but behind it. A big band should sound big. You can always send all the wind instruments to a bus (if you didn't already) and have a compressor being fed by the vocal, adjust to taste so the horns stay just under the vocal. Then they come up naturally in between.

Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps. But overall, a really good clean mix.
