'Neon Hornet - Take It Off' Mix try
#1
Hello.

I'm a composer and always mixing and mastering by myself.

But, this is my first attempt to mix other person's song.

I've realized, being a mixing engineer is not easy.

Anyway, I think it's a bit too much/

Thank you~

Ok so I only listened to your second attempt through both headphones and monitors. But since I need to get back to work, I only listened to it once or twice through each system.

Overall it seems like a decent mix, though the hard panning of the guitars is a little fatiguing in headphones and somewhat unbalanced in my speaker setup.

This might be a more personal thing but I'd pull the cymbals back so the drums feel more forward and pushy. At points they (cymbals) swallow the mix a little but it's not game-breaking.

I like the fact that you took a Foo Fighters philosophy to the song and brought the guitars as far forward as possible without them taking up too much room, but the dark/bright contrast between the two guitar parts still adds to that feeling of unbalance.

Somewhat solid mix overall, but definitely some finer points to look at in the future. I'm sure somebody with a little more experience with audio engineering will chime in soon!
