Thanks for the overall props....much appreciated. The way I mix the kick drum in many of my mixes has been critiqued in that I tend to mix it in a bit loud, dry, and with the sound of the beater really prominent. I suppose it's because I really like Jazz Fusion, which is much more in your face and the drum mixes in those fusion songs are mixed just like rock drums, at least to my ears. So, if you don't like the kick I can totally understand. For traditional Jazz styles, like this song, it's probably a bit too prominent in the mix. But my goal, again, was to create a mix where it was if I were standing in the middle of all the players and could hear everything up close and in your face. In fact, my face was right inside that piano. LOL!
