Diesel13: 'Colour Me Red'
#31
Hey Don,

Only listened to v 3.2.......Loved it! Great Vocal....! Nothing to say man except great job Big Grin

This is a tricky mix (I'm still in the trenches on this one) so i can appreciate the craft here.

Cheers, Simon

Be fierce in your encouragement, kind in your criticism and try and remember that the art of a good critique is not to make someone else's mix sound like yours...but to help the mixer realize their own vision.

My comments are in regards to version 3.2.
Overall I think you have a nice balance level with all the instruments.
The guitars are way too thin for my taste and for the style of the song. It sounds like too much subtractive EQ has been used on them.
The vocal effects make the voice sound a little unnatural and doesn't quite fit the style.
The gang vocals sound good.
The snare drum sounds thin. Phase issues?
The kick and toms sound good.
I hope these comments are helpful.
Have a good day.

It's good (really good) but IMHO the vocals are way too quiet and that pitched resonance (G) on the acoustic guitars is all pervasive throughout! Big Grin

This is excellent work (V4) love the Kick. To me it sounds cohesive and all fits together well.
It really depends what is the listening environment. I listened on studio monitors (they are a bit base heavy I know) then on good quality cans and it sounded full.
