It's well on the way Don. Love what you have done tonally. I think some automation as you progress will help with the intensity as the song builds and releases. I think some panning of the guitar parts as they come into play will also help with some extra excitement.
This song reminds my a bit of the JJ cale/Eric Clapton Album "The Road to Escondido" may be useful for referencing.

Definitely needs more automation and panning, thanks for the reference ideas will check them out as you can tell I didn't use any references

It seemed to me that the guitar sounds prickly and sharply sometimes, especially after listening of some preferences(Dire Straits, JJCale or same sort). Otherwise nice sounding mix, well done!

Thanks for having a listen I agree ,will try to tame some prickly sharp transients of the guitar.
I like the groove very much. But the vox sounds disturbs me quite a bit. If a singer has naturally Jim Morrison elements in his voice, don't hide it or make it too effected.
