My mixing style is a bit strange, but I did it anyway. ("Cage", Mix & Master)

Sounds a bit harsh and overcompressed/limited to me right from the start I think?  Yeah could be it's mostly the drums. (edit: No I think its the guitars as well).  It's mainly the kick that perhaps dominates too much and I think is setting the tone for the whole mix perhaps?

Cheers!

(Another Edit to add that I was able to play the track all the way through here).

Thanks man. I put up a new mix (MIX_02 MIX_03), addressing most of the feedback. Still tried to keep the basic sound I was initially going for. Hopefully it's a lot better sounding overall now.

  • warmed everything up a little
  • decompressed almost every track
  • drums should be punchier, but still tonal
  • added some automated FX
  • tweaked all the guitar tones
  • put the vox in a better frequency space (still might clash with the guitars a bit)
There's prolly more, but that's the main stuff that got tweaked. Undecided
