Generally pretty sensible balancing here. I like the piano and drum tones too. The acoustic guitars sound a bit thin to me in their solo sections. It's also odd that they're sitting in front of the lead vocal -- a bit of short reverb should provide a fairly simple fix there, although you might also want to take some of the extreme HF off. By the same token, the guitar solo feels incongruously distant.

The kick's extreme low end feels like it might be a bit overblown too, which just makes it feel like it's a bit sluggish in terms of the groove.

As far as the issue of the song being boring is concerned, I have to say I think I agree with you a bit. It's rather loosely structured, and doesn't quite seem to know where it's going some of the time. But, hey... what do we know? We're just mix engineers. Smile
