I suspect your CHOICE of vocal reverb is part of that but it needs to be dialed back a notch; I feel it's a bit too in your face here.
Despite the other comment you got, personally I liked the way the backing vocal worked in the original mix better than here; the excessive reverb buries a lot of the sonic detail.
I used a multiband Comp on the bus not something I normally do but I just felt I wasn't getting what I wanted from my usual comp.
I have a bit of a dilemma with drums I often feel they are far too prominent in the mix with modern music but I know that is what people expect.
The noise is the slate VTM That Needs sorting.
The reverbs I use are, TC DVR2 + lexicon LXP Room and I agree with you they do push the vocals back.
I have made a couple of very quick changers and would love to know what you think. When I have more time I will have a better Look at the mix.
