Ah, I was referring to how I approach bass distortion, which is almost always in parallel... And I think Mike did it that way too.

Yeah that guitar riff sound was weird - It sounded like a "big lead guitar" preset from an old digital multi fx pedal - I think I ended up high passing it pretty savagely and to get rid of the muddy verb, and then added even more delay to try to make it a bit more "epic".
